Masters Admission Process and Selection Procedure

NUST aspires to select talented students from all over the country on open merit.

Masters Selection & Admission Procedure for Engineering/IT, Natural, Applied Bio Sciences, Social and Management Sciences is given below:


The admission of students in the various disciplines of the Masters programs will be based upon GRE (General)/ GMAT (as applicable) or GAT (General) conducted by NTS or Higher Education Apptitude Test (HAT) conducted by HEC with atleast 50 accumulative test score, previous academic record of the applicant, and an interview conducted by the respective Institutions.

International Scores​

International Scores are also accepted for Masters Admissions, details are as mentioned below:

  • GRE (General) Scores

The minimum score required for each subject of GRE (General), conducted by ETS, USA, is:

  Verbal​ 146/170​
  Analytical Writing 3.5/6.0​

NUST will accept the scores of GRE tests held on or after 01 August 2017.

  • GMAT Scores

The minimum score required for GMAT is 50 percentile. NUST will accept  the scores of GMAT tests held on or after 01 August 2017.


​Merit Generation
  • Merit Generation (less MBA/EMBA/MS Logistics & Supply Chain Management / Innovation and Enterpreneurship)
  • Engineering / IT / Applied Bio Sciences / Natural Sciences / Social Sciences

The merit for admission will be prepared on GRE (General)/ GMAT/  GAT (General), the previous academic records of the candidates, and an interview as given under:

​Merit List:

A list of names (discipline-wise) shall be prepared in strict order of merit, called the Merit list, which will be uploaded on the NUST website. Subject to the availability of any vacant seats, the next candidates on the Merit List will be offered admissions until the commencement of the academic session.

​Selection Letters:

Candidates will have to keep visiting NUST web portal for selection list / letters in August. They will download their computer generated selection letters and forward required documents to Postgraduate Programs Directorate for confirmation of their admission.

​Rejection Of Application:

The University may reject the application of any student without assigning any reason.

​Refusal Of Admission:

The University can refuse admission to any candidate without assigning any reason.

​Cancellation Of Admission:

Admissions at NUST can be cancelled at any stage of the academic career if any document / information provided by the student is found to be false / incorrect or not meeting the eligibility criteria, with no liability on NUST.

​Medical Fitness:

At NUST colleges/ institutes, a student is required to be medically fit to undertake the studies and practical/ physical work in the desired discipline. The selected students will be required to provide medical fitness certificates to NUST along with the willingness certificates for joining the institution.
